City Threads

The second project within Textiles and Fashion was called City Threads, to start us off on this project we took sequences of images around Manchester. My images ranged from the sun setting over Manchester to the stalls at Manchester Christmas Markets.

From this I started to really investiagate my intital research, for this I took the images and drew in a variety of different methods. Such as linear, pixalated and monochromatic, I also used a variety of mediums such as acrylic, pastels, fine liners and bleech.

The most enjoyable method of drawing for me was using acrylic paints to create a pixalated effect, this was the method I chose to develop further. In my development I chose the sunset sequence to expand upon so I experimented with dying white paper and how to create dots from the paper.

I decided on the hole punched dots as I thought they created a more pixalated effect than the ripped pieces. From this I made a metre long strip based on the sunset images from hole punches.
